How Talk Therapy Works @ Relationship HQ

Some people use therapy to make change in a specific area of their life, some use it to navigate a difficult or transitional time, others use it to resolve recurring problems and patterns.  Grounded in conversation with an objective, neutral and nonjudgmental person who is trained to listen, facilitate insight, and support behavior change, talk therapy (also called psychotherapy or counseling) is a method for changing habits, working through problems, finding solutions, and strengthening emotional well-being so that you can live a happier and more productive life.

At Relationship HQ, located in the heart of New York City, we want you to have the best and most comfortable therapy experience possible, and so we have designed our entire process with you in mind. Whether it is your first time in therapy or you are a veteran of the process, you will discover that we offer a warm, welcoming environment where you can feel safe to explore any difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be getting in the way of your relationships, limiting your ability to live your life to your fullest potential or blocking you from making change.

Well, you can begin to sleep better at night knowing that when you work with us, you will no longer walk alone. You can have the support and guidance of a highly qualified, well trained, active, non-judgmental and warm therapist to talk through the transition or difficult experiences that may be blocking you from getting what you want or need. Through this process, you can learn to increase your emotional intelligence, strengthen your resilience, and learn the skills you need to feel more equipped to reach the people you care about the most, i.e., is your partner, family, friends, or co-workers. You can ultimately feel confident in yourself and secure in your relationships knowing that you are equipped to handle the curveballs life throws at you.

Our Approach

We believe therapy should be experiential i.e., it is present-focused, occurs in the context of your emotional experience and involves a doing element.  With that said, there are many available psychotherapy approaches that guide the process of change. While all have anecdotal evidence suggesting that it is helpful, some specific therapy approaches have been tested in research studies to assess whether the approach really works. These are identified as evidence based approaches.

Our therapists at Relationship HQ use a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches in an experiential manner to facilitate relief from symptoms, promote healing, and create meaningful and lasting change.  When you explore and understand the difficulties you face, you can find the solutions that not only makes sense to you but also sits well in your heart.  You can increase your emotional intelligence and resilience, develop the skills to help you reach the people you care about, and feel confident and secure in yourself and your relationships.
